Prospective Foster Parent

Can you provide your commitment, care, and compassion to a child in foster care? DSS needs parents who can provide this support, care, and advocacy. Foster parents also provide support for birth parents who may struggle with poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues.

You may have heard that the rules are impossible, and it takes a long time to be licensed as a foster parent, but DSS has great news!

  • We have streamlined the process and hired more people to process licenses.
  • We have an entire unit dedicated to supporting foster families.
  • In addition, our foster care workers support the children in care.
